the jacket that never really fit
A suede jacket: long, light brown and well cut -
this was the first present I ever gave her.
It was second hand, in perfect condition,
except for a pen mark on the left lapel.
I sold half my stamp collection to buy it for her.
But it didn’t quite fit.
She said she loved it... but...
it was just a little too baggy around her waist.
She wore it a few times,
just to keep me happy I think.
She wanted it to fit... but... it didn’t.
So it hung in the wardrobe for 7 years
until she left me,
and I sold it for $10 at a market stall.
That jacket...
she said it never quite fit;
while I thought it still looked pretty good.
